Team Rocket is where the TCG got a villain — 83 cards released April 24, 2000, and the first set built around Dark Pokémon. The numbering is the giveaway that something is unusual: the cards themselves run to 82, and the 83rd is a secret Dark Raichu 83/82. Its 17 holo rares include Dark Charizard and Dark Dragonite, and one of them — the no-holo Dark Dragonite — is the most valuable card in the set by a wide margin. Explore the complete TR visual card list, organised by printing for easy browsing — and every card here links to its own record, with prices, variants and what to check before you buy.
All 174 Team Rocket cards — 1st Edition, variants and errors and Unlimited — priced raw and at PSA 7–10, ranked by what a raw copy could be worth in a PSA 10 once you pay to grade it. The same list you can sort by budget in the full tool, kept to this set.
Team Rocket has 83 cards: 17 holo rares at numbers 1–17, 17 rares, 24 uncommons, 24 commons, and one secret rare. It released in English on April 24, 2000.
Because the 83rd card is a secret. Every card in the set is numbered out of 82, and Dark Raichu 83/82 sits outside that count — it was never on the pack checklist. This is the first WotC-era secret card, and it is why the printed total and the set total disagree.
Yes. 1st Edition and Unlimited are the two printings, and the only difference is the Edition 1 stamp — same artwork, same cards.
No. Shadowless is Base Set only and ends in 1999; Team Rocket shipped in April 2000.
No. The earliest reverse holos are in Legendary Collection, 2002.
The Edition 1 stamp outside the lower-left of the illustration box, plus the “R” set symbol beside the card number. The stamp answers which printing, the symbol answers which set — they are separate questions, and on Trainer and Energy cards the stamp sits lower on the left.
Dark Dragonite #5 was printed without its holo pattern. The no-holo version is the most valuable card in the set by a wide margin, in both 1st Edition and Unlimited. There is a second, quieter one: Dark Arbok carries a 23000 copyright-date error, corrected on the stamped print.
The no-holo Dark Dragonite #5, then Dark Charizard #4 in 1st Edition among the normal holos.
