1st Edition Red Dot Error$1,527.00 rawYou are here1st Edition Red Dot Error. A speck of debris stuck to the printing plate — a “hickey” — left a small red dot ringed in yellow to the left of the set symbol on part of the 1st Edition run of this card. It is a printing fault rather than a design change, and Bulbapedia records it only on 1st Edition copies; the Unlimited printing has no dot. PSA grades the card under its own “Red Dot Error” label and those sales clear above the plain 1st Edition, which is why the row is kept as its own printing. Whether it deserves to is genuinely contested — an error-card field guide argues a hickey is contamination and should grade lower, not higher — so treat the premium as a market judgement, not a rule.
