Japanese 1997 Carddass Card List

The 1997 continuation of Bandai's Carddass line — like the 1996 release, a vending-machine product with its own card back, not a Pokémon TCG set. 151 cards, numbered 1–151 with every number present. What makes this release distinct is its finishes: most cards exist plainly, but some were also printed with the textured Prism treatment or as a Foil, and those trade apart from the plain card. This page lists every card with its printings priced separately — 152 printing records — and every one opens its own record with the prices, the printing notes and where to buy.

Japanese 1997 Carddass At a Glance

How many cards are in the Japanese 1997 Carddass?

The set holds 151 cards, released 1997. This site tracks 152 printings of them (Foil 1 · Prism 16 · Standard 135), each with its own record and price.

What printings does it have?

Printings here are finishes, and a card carries only the ones the price source lists: Standard, Prism and Foil. There is no 1st Edition or Unlimited run — Carddass is not a TCG product. Source: PriceCharting product-row naming. Eleven rows on the price source's console belong to other products (stickers, a checklist, a Mini Card, four Scene cards and a Tokyo Toy Show promo) and are excluded rather than filed as cards of this set.

What is the most valuable card in the set?

Charizard Prism #6 at $455 raw, about $16,500 in PSA 10. One raw copy of every printing here totals $5,818.

How do these cards relate to the English printing?

No English version of these cards exists. None Carddass is not a Pokémon TCG product and has no English counterpart, so these are the only printings of these cards that were ever made. They are one of just two Japanese releases of the era with no English counterpart at all.

How do I tell a Japanese 1997 Carddass card apart from the English printing?

Turn it over, which is the quickest tell there is: this set predates July 2001, when Japanese cards carried the Pocket Monsters Card Game back — a design no English card ever had, against the blue Pokémon back. The back changed once, with Pokémon VS in July 2001, so the back alone dates a card to this era.

Either way, the symbol beside the number is the Japanese set's own, not the English set's.

Prices are PriceCharting sold comps read 2026-11-06 and are per printing. This set is not in TCGdex, and no structured fact source covers it, so rarity, type and illustrator are omitted rather than guessed. One raw copy of every printing on this page totals $5,818.
