Japanese 1996 Carddass Card List

Bandai's Carddass came before the Pokémon TCG and is a different product entirely — its own card back, sold from vending machines, no TCG attacks or HP. The 1996 release is 158 cards in two parts the price source calls Red and Green, each carrying the same numbering, so the part is what separates one card's printings. Twelve Pokémon in each part were also pulled as a textured Prism finish, and those trade apart from the plain card: a Prism Charizard is about $1,293 in Red and $760 in Green, against roughly $300 plain. This page lists every card with its printings priced separately — 309 printing records — and every one opens its own record with the prices, the printing notes and where to buy.

Japanese 1996 Carddass At a Glance

How many cards are in the Japanese 1996 Carddass?

The set holds 158 cards, released 1996. This site tracks 309 printings of them (Green 144 · Prism Green 12 · Prism Red 12 · Red 141), each with its own record and price.

What printings does it have?

Four printings, priced separately: Red and Green are the two parts, Prism Red and Prism Green are the Prism finish inside each. There is no 1st Edition and no Unlimited run — Carddass is not a TCG product. The chips on each card show which of the four exist for it. Two Trainer cards are filed by the source at number 0. What is the most valuable card in the set?

Charizard Prism [Red] #6 at $1,602 raw, about $31,000 in PSA 10. One raw copy of every printing here totals $14,315.

How do these cards relate to the English printing?

No English version of these cards exists. None Carddass is not a Pokémon TCG product and has no English counterpart, so these are the only printings of these cards that were ever made. They are one of just two Japanese releases of the era with no English counterpart at all.

How do I tell a Japanese 1996 Carddass card apart from the English printing?

Turn it over, which is the quickest tell there is: this set predates July 2001, when Japanese cards carried the Pocket Monsters Card Game back — a design no English card ever had, against the blue Pokémon back. The back changed once, with Pokémon VS in July 2001, so the back alone dates a card to this era.

Either way, the symbol beside the number is the Japanese set's own, not the English set's.

Prices are PriceCharting sold comps read 2026-11-06 and are per printing. This set is not in TCGdex, and no structured fact source covers it, so rarity, type and illustrator are omitted rather than guessed. One raw copy of every printing on this page totals $14,315.
