Neo Revelation Master Set
The Neo Revelation Master Set contains 66 total cards: 14 holo rares, 13 rares, 17 uncommons, 20 commons, 2 secret rares. The Grand Master Set runs to 144 once the Unlimited printings and the 12 documented double-holo error printings are counted — and every 1st Edition printing is priced below.
Neo Revelation · 2001The set that introduced Shining Pokémon
Neo Revelation arrived on September 21, 2001 — sixty-six cards, and the set where Shining Pokémon begin. The first two, Shining Magikarp and Shining Gyarados, sit outside the numbered run as secret rares at 65 and 66, and the three legendary beasts are the reason the set is remembered. Two printings, 1st Edition and Unlimited.

None of these 12 cards are part of the 66-card Neo Revelation Master Set. These are the documented double-holo error printings — the foil layer ran twice, so the artwork carries holo where the correct print does not. Switch them on in the binder to lay them out with the set.
What binder does 66 cards need?
Since the Neo Revelation 1st Edition Master Set has a total of 66 cards you’ll need:
- 9-pocket binder — 8 dual-sided pages
- 12-pocket binder — 6 dual-sided pages
Always leave extra room — graded slabs, the Unlimited printing and the double-holo errors all need somewhere to go.

14 holo rares
13 rares
17 uncommons

2 secret rares
Total: 66 cards — 144 once you count every printing
What counts as a complete Neo Revelation Master Set?
A complete Neo Revelation Master Set is the 66 numbered cards, in 1st Edition, Unlimited, or both — the black “Edition 1” stamp is the only difference between them. That count includes the two secret rares, Shining Magikarp #66 and Shining Gyarados #65.
The documented double-holo error printings are usually treated as optional additions for a Grand Master Set.
How many binder pages do I need for a Neo Revelation Master Set?
For a 66-card Neo Revelation Master Set you’ll need:
✔ 9-pocket binder — 8 dual-sided pages
✔ 12-pocket binder — 6 dual-sided pages
If you are aiming for the 144-printing Grand Master Set:
✔ 9-pocket binder — 16 dual-sided pages
✔ 12-pocket binder — 12 dual-sided pages
Are promos part of a Neo Revelation Master Set?
In short, no. Promos are released separately from the main numbered expansion, and this set’s extras are error printings rather than promos — the double-holo cards are manufacturing errors, not giveaways.
Many collectors still chase them. That expanded version is often called a Grand Master Set.
How much does it cost to master Neo Revelation?
Based on ungraded sold comps at PriceCharting, the master set totals $6,732.31 — that is every one of the 66 cards.
Prices move over time, so treat this as a current market estimate rather than a fixed checklist value. The set is carried by Shining Gyarados #65 and Shining Magikarp #66, with Suicune #14 and Raikou #13 next.
