Best of Game · 2002Nine cards, three ways each

Best of Game is a nine-card promo set from 2002, numbered to 009 rather than 9. Each card exists as an ordinary print, a Winner-stamped print given to League winners, and an oversized jumbo. Two of the nine — Rocket’s Mewtwo #8 and Rocket’s Hitmonchan #9 — have no unstamped print at all.

These 13 printings are not extra cards — each one is the same nine-card set again: a Winner stamp for League winners, an oversized jumbo, or both. Rocket’s Mewtwo and Rocket’s Hitmonchan only ever appeared stamped. Switch them on in the binder to lay them out.

What binder does 9 cards need?

Since the Best of Game set runs to 9 cards you’ll need:

  • 9-pocket binder — 1 dual-sided pages
  • 12-pocket binder — 1 dual-sided pages

Always leave extra room — the jumbo printings do not fit a standard pocket and need their own storage.

We use the Vault X Exo-Tec 9-pocket zip binder.

Your Best of Game Master Set Questions, Answered

How many cards are in Best of Game?

Nine. The cards are numbered 1/009 to 9/009. Each exists as an ordinary print, a Winner-stamped print and a jumbo, which is why a full set of every printing comes to 22.

Are the Winner-stamped cards part of the set?

They are the same cards, stamped for League winners. If a card has an unstamped print that one is the set member; for Rocket’s Mewtwo #8 and Rocket’s Hitmonchan #9 the Winner print is the only ordinary one, so it stands in.

Should I count the jumbos?

Only in a Grand Master Set. Jumbo cards are oversized and do not fit a nine-pocket page, so most collectors keep them separately even when they count them as part of the collection.

How many binder pages do I need for Best of Game?

For the nine cards: a single 9-pocket page holds the whole set, and a 12-pocket page has room to spare. With every winner and jumbo printing you are at 22 cards — 3 dual-sided 9-pocket pages, plus separate storage for the jumbos.

How much does it cost to complete Best of Game?

Based on ungraded sold comps at PriceCharting, the nine cards total $1,251.91.

Prices move over time, so treat this as a current market estimate rather than a fixed checklist value. The starter-evolution promos — Dark Ivysaur, Dark Venusaur and the two Rocket’s cards — carry most of it.

Method. Every figure here is the ungraded market value from PriceCharting, sold-comp data, October 7, 2026 — refreshed monthly. The total is one copy of each of the 9 numbered Promo cards, summed; the PSA 10 figure is unconditioned PSA 10 market values for the same 9 cards.
