Japanese JR Stamp Rally Promos Card List

Japan Railways has given Pokémon cards away at station stamp rallies since 1997, and two of those rallies fall inside this site's window — the eight cards here. The 1997 JR East Stamp Rally put thirty stamps around Tokyo's Yamanote line and handed a complete booklet a holder with Surfing Pikachu and Mew; the 2002 Happy Adventure Rally put a different card at each of six booths — Celebi, Entei, Pikachu, Pichu, Mewtwo and Lugia. The 1997 Surfing Pikachu is the Mt. Fuji artwork with a Shinkansen nose behind it, which is how it is told apart from the CoroCoro card of the same name. The 2000 rally's Eevee, Mewtwo and Meowth were English Wizards Black Star promos handed out at Japanese stations, so they live on the Wizards Black Star pages rather than here. This page lists every card with its printings priced separately — 8 printing records — and every one opens its own record with the prices, the printing notes and where to buy.

Japanese JR Stamp Rally Promos At a Glance

How many cards are in the Japanese JR Stamp Rally Promos?

The set holds 8 cards, released August 9, 1997. This site tracks 8 printings of them (Promo 8), each with its own record and price.

What printings does it have?

One printing each, no 1st Edition and no Unlimited run — these are station giveaways, not a set. The 1997 pair print no collector number (the number shown is the Pokédex number the price source files them by); the 2002 six print their own number, #42/P to #47/P. Later rallies — Turtwig #117/DP-P in 2008, the BW-P starters and JR Hokkaido jumbos in 2011, and the jumbo Pikachu ex in 2025 — are outside the site's window and are not on this page. What is the most valuable card in the set?

Surfing Pikachu (Mt. Fuji) #25 at $1,564 raw, about $5,780 in PSA 10. One raw copy of every printing here totals $3,989.

How do these cards relate to the English printing?

No English version of these cards exists. The 2000 rally's Eevee, Mewtwo and Meowth are English Wizards Black Star promos #11, #12 and #10 documented at <a href="/sets/wizards-black-star-promos/">Wizards Black Star Promos</a>, so these are the only printings of these cards that were ever made. They are one of just two Japanese releases of the era with no English counterpart at all.

How do I tell a Japanese JR Stamp Rally Promos card apart from the English printing?

Turn it over, which is the quickest tell there is: this set predates July 2001, when Japanese cards carried the Pocket Monsters Card Game back — a design no English card ever had, against the blue Pokémon back. The back changed once, with Pokémon VS in July 2001, so the back alone dates a card to this era.

Either way, the symbol beside the number is the Japanese set's own, not the English set's.

Prices are PriceCharting sold comps read 2026-11-07 and are per printing. This set is not in TCGdex, and no structured fact source covers it, so rarity, type and illustrator are omitted rather than guessed. One raw copy of every printing on this page totals $3,989.
